Matched halves (split bearings)
are machined in one operation and are less costly than halves made individually.
The only difference between a matched and "perfect half" is at the center
line. A perfect half is necessary only when the center line of the
bearing must be held in close fit with some other locking number.
Too often individual or perfect half bearings are specified when matched
halves would give entirely satisfactory service for less cost.
These Parts can be supplied
in a variety of sizes and shapes with dimensions ranging from a few inches
to lengths of 12 feet and greater. Wear plates should be ordered
with the position and number of bolts or drill holes required, plus the
direction, type, speed of motion and operating loads.
