Thrust
Washers are often used in place of a flanged bearing. They are usually
made from castings and machined to the finished dimensions. AlfaLube
plugs are inserted into one or both surfaces.
Split or two piece AlfaLube
bearings usually have the drilled holes for the plugs on the inside of
the bearing only. These holes extend partially through the bearing
wall providing a solid metal backing for the plugs. The two halves
are machined as one unit to assure a perfect fit. Two piece bearings
can be made in a wide variety of special shapes and sizes and can be furnished
with flanges for holding or end thrust.
AlfaLube solid or one piece
bearings have drilled holes for the plugs extending entirely through the
bearing wall. For best results they should be press fit in a housing
which will back the plugs and force lubrication to the shaft. One
piece bearings can be furnished with thinner walls than the two piece type
as the full wall thickness is utilized to hold the AflaLube plugs.
One piece bearings may be furnished with flanges for holding or end thrust
and in a variety of special shapes, including hexagonal and octagonal outside
diameters.
